About Me

I am Daniel Zapata, and it is my honor to announce my candidacy for the Florida State House of Representatives.

I am a second-generation American and Floridian. After escaping communism in Cuba, spending years in Costa Rica and Mexico waiting for permission to enter the country, and finally entering the United States, my family settled here in beautiful Palm Beach County. This is where I was born and raised, and hopefully, this is the place I will have the honor of representing in Tallahassee.

At the age of 14, I got my first job, working as a bag boy at a Publix supermarket. I worked to make my way up the ladder for five years, but God eventually called me somewhere else - Education.

Beginning as a substitute teacher, I eventually worked my way up to become a distance learning classroom proctor. I’m currently serving in administration as the Assistant Director of Student Affairs.

It is because of the stories that I heard growing up in a family of Cuban immigrants, of the horrors of socialism, and because of my experience working in education that I have decided to join this race.

For too long, our community has been underrepresented and ignored in Tallahassee, and it is time that we stand up and change that. God willing, I will earn your trust and support along the way. I promise to be your champion in the Florida State House of Representatives.
